Liturgy Committee

Mission Statement:

Our Mission is to enhance the worship of God, to support the liturgical prayer life of the community and to nurture the spiritual growth of St. Anthony Church.

Purpose of the Liturgical Committee:

The St. Anthony Church Liturgical Committee is a committee of the St. Anthony Church Pastoral Council committed to promote and strengthen the liturgical life of the parish family. The Liturgical Committee exists principally to enhance the living experience of the People of God as they come together in yearning to sustain the vision of the Kingdom come in Jesus Christ. Serving the parish in the areas of the Liturgy of the Holy Eucharist, sacramental and para-liturgical celebrations and evangelization.

Functions of the Liturgical Committee:

The revised General Instruction of the Roman Missal notes that since liturgy is the “primary and indispensable source from which the faithful are to derive the true Christian Spirit … the entire celebration is planned in such a way that it leads to a conscious, active and full participation of the faithful both in body and mind” (No. 17). Since the Liturgy of the Holy Eucharist is the “source and summit” (SC 11) of Christian life, the Liturgical Committee is actively and directly connected and concerned with all of the aspects of the liturgical and sacramental life of St. Anthony Church. The Liturgical Committee collaborates with the Pastor, the St. Anthony Church Pastoral Council, other parish personnel and committees, and the Office of Devine Worship of the Diocese of Hartford.
